MAINTAINING PUBLIC ACCESS TO SYDLINGS COPSE – SSSI

Notice of Landowner Deposits – Land at Wadley Hill Farm, Beckley, OX3 9SR

The owners of Wadley Hill Farm, which includes the fields around BBOWT’s Sydlings Copse and College Pond SSSI have made an application to deposit a map and statement which “may prevent deemed dedication of public rights of way over such land”.  The map does not include the path from the bridleway 123/7/10 (from B4027 at Royal Oak to Wick Farm) to the main entrance of Sydlings Copse or a walk around the perimeter of the field next to Sydlings Copse. We need to inform the County Council that people have been using these paths for at least the last 20 years, so they can be registered and kept open.  Please see the map below showing Wadley Hill Farm land outlined in red, the bridleway and the unregistered path from the bridleway to the main entrance of Sydlings Copse in black.  The previous owner of Wadley Hill Farm also gave permission for the public to walk around part of the perimeter of the field next to Sydlings Copse outlined in green.

Stanton St John Parish Council will be filling in and submitting a form to say these paths have been open for public use for at least 20 years and will send it to the County Council.  In addition to this we also need as many ‘User Evidence Statements’ as possible from those who are using or have used the path (s) over at least the past 20 years.  To help keep the path open, please email the Clerk  clerk@stantonstjohnpc.gov.uk for further details.
